The value of visits during breaks

I am in Savannah and visiting the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Being July, it is a little quiet around the school.

This is a great time for prospective students to visit.

With fewer admissions events, students can experience a school on your own terms. Spend time looking and thinking about the work on display. Read the flyers posted around campus. Notice what the school is talking about, and what it seems to value.

You can walk through the buildings and chat with people who aren't official representatives. If you happen to meet a student, ask them about their experience.

There is something revealing about seeing a school when it is offline. The quiet can give you a more authentic sense of its character and culture than any carefully planned tour or event.
